Makatea, a special island in Polynesia, a coral circle stemming out of the soil for a hundred meters, turquoise water, rich and diverse flora and fauna, a dream-like landscape…
But also an exploited island, dotted with abandoned phosphate mines.
Today, Makatea starts a second life with the development of eco-tourism and sport through a collaboration between Maewan and the residents of the island.
